O Laboratório de Biodiversidade Aquática (LABIAQ) foi criado em 2019 e está vinculado ao Departamento de Ecologia e Zoologia da Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina. Nosso principal objetivo é investigar a biodiversidade de águas continentais, como rios, lagos e riachos, buscando compreender a diversidade biológica, as interações ecológicas e os processos que estruturam as comunidades.
Além disso, nossas pesquisas abrangem diferentes aspectos da limnologia, incluindo o estudo dos organismos aquáticos e suas relações com os componentes físicos e químicos do ambiente. Também, avaliamos os efeitos das atividades humanas sobre esses ecossistemas, contribuindo para o conhecimento científico que auxilie na conservação, manejo e restauração dos ambientes aquáticos continentais.
